Today I introduced the song C'est l'halloween by Matt Maxwell. Many of the kids were already familiar with it. One student commented that he remembers his brother singing this song when he was in grade 3. The students LOVE this song as it is a great way to introduce all that Halloween vocabulary. Today I told the kids a little about myself... In French I told them that in my family there are 4 people. I have a mother. Her name is Yvette. I have a sister. Her name is Rachelle. Today in the world of monsters we compared them to each other….Let me start from the beginning. In the morning I compared my height to my friends using “Je suis plus grande que…and je suis plus courte que...” Then students compared themselves orally to their friends. Wow! What an exciting day in grade 3 French Immersion. Today we worked on Mes Amis a project where the students describe their friends in french. Students worked hard all week describing their friends orally in order to write about them today. I found this cute art project on pinterest. This is how I use “Ma rubrique” . Students entering my class have limited exposure to French. I want them to realize that not EVERYTHING is different. Writing in French is just like writing in English and that many skills they have mastered from K-2 are still applicable in French.
