Phases of the Moon Study guide… It helps to be organized!
For today’s Science class we worked on creating a study guide I designed to help illustrate the Phases of the Moon.
I designed this interactive study guide as a way to do some quick assessments and check-ins with some students as this lesson was done after we had already covered work on the phases of the moon. This activity allowed me the opportunity circulate around the classroom and assess each students understanding of the previous lessons.
This study guide is based on 2 different points of view. One from space and the other view would be from an observer here on Earth.
This study guide consists of two sheets. The first is the base sheet, which everything will be attached to and the second sheet contains all the components which will need to be cut out, worked on and glued to the base sheet.
We started out by cutting the components of the second sheet and coloring the phases of the moon based on the view from space. We then reviewed how different the view is when you are on Earth.
Students were then able to color the phases of the Moon based on the Moons placement. When the two sections were complete, we then glued them to the base sheet.
Students then completed the mini booklet of the phases of the Moon by coloring the moon and labeling the phases. This mini booklet was then glued onto the base sheet as well.
Students then placed their newly constructed Phases of the Moon Study guide in the study guide section of their Science binder.
In my experience, I have found that having students keep all of their study guides together really helps students organize their notes when it comes time for reviewing and studying.
