Today was the first day back from Christmas break so we jumped right into it!
In Math we will be exploring estimation and so to get the kids excited about it…I brought out the froot loops!
Who doesn’t like froot loops right? I was inspired by this pinterest idea!
So we began by exploring how many froot loops were in different bags. The students soon realize that they were “underestimating”.
When we began to share we decided we needed some references. So we began exploring “What does 10 froot loops look like? What does 100 froot loop look like?” Students were much better at estimating once they had that visual reference. We followed up with marshmellows! Can you smell the suguar? I could!!!! We practiced again estimating with a visual reference. Estimation is a concept that students need a lot of practice with….
Have fun estimating 🙂
